HEDDON ON THE WALL

ALTERNATIVE NAME:  HADRIANS WALL

Heddon-on-the-wall section of Hadrian's Wall measures 255 metres and is between 2.8 metres and 3 metres wide and up to 1.7 metres (7 courses) high. The core was originally set in puddled clay, but was reset in mortar to preserve the section when it was consolidated. There are less Wall facing stones exposed running eastwards. The first 12 metres at the west has only the outer face exposed.
