Ditched mound - suggested round barrow, but likely to have been a Medieval ringwork or small motte, although earlier Bronze Age activity cannot be ruled out. The mound is 34 yards in diameter and is surrounded by a dry ditch and rises 12 feet above the bottom of the ditch.

The site was badly damaged in 1967 when a large tree was removed and an access ramp created on the south side. There is a depression in the centre of the mound that has been attributed to antiquarian investigations from when the mound was still suspected as being a prehistoric barrow.

SO 3385 3629 Cothill Camp (NR). (1)

Mound, 34 yds in diameter, surrounded by a dry ditch and rising about 12ft above the bottom of the ditch. "The top has a sinking some 3ft deep"(2). Some damage has been caused by tree removal on the S and W in 1967/8 but the mound has now been cleared by the Woolhope Arch. Research Group. It appears to be a MBA barrow(3).(2-3)

Shown by Rees as a minor fortification or castle site abandoned by the 14th century (4).

A mutilated ringwork. Published survey 25" revised. (5)

SO 339363. Cothill Tump. Small motte or ringwork, now much damaged. (6)

The position of the monument is typical of Bronze Age Bowl Barrows locally, and in its present form it may represent medieval adaptation of such an earlier feature. (8)
