Earthwork remains of a Norman Ringwork . The ringwork is oval in plan with axes of 34 and 20 metres, and rises from 0.2 metres to 1.5 metres above the surrounding sloping ground. The perimeter bank with an entrance on the north, rises 0.4 metres above the interior, and an external ditch 10 metres wide remains on the east and west sides. The earthwork was excavated in 1922 and between 1959 and 1962 when a cellared building was found. The ringwork dates from circa 1150 AD and probably went out of use in the 13th century. Scheduled.

The earthwork known as Breinton Camp was partly excavated in 1922 but the results were inconclusive (4). Between 1959 and 1962 further excavations took place. The site, a walled embanked enclosure with a ditch on three sides, was medieval and domestic in character. Building foundations with the enclosure included a cellared portion of the main building. The entrance to the enclosure was on the north side where remains of the stone gateway were uncovered. It was occupied c1150, or soon after, and abandoned some time in the 13th c although it probably then continued in use as a stock enclosure.

Heys suggests that the site may have been a grange. The Dean and Chapter of Hereford Cathedral are known to have held
land here c 1201. (2-4)

SO 47263948 A ringwork, protected on the south side by steep river bank. The level interior of the ringwork is oval in plan with axies of 34.0m and 20.0m, and rises from 0.2m to 1.5m above the surrounding sloping ground. The perimeter bank with an entrance in the N, rises 0.4m above the interior, and an external ditch 10.0m wide remains on the east and west sides. The ringwork is situated only 80.0m from the parish church (some Norman features) and a hollow way immediately to the west leads down to a former crossing of the River Wye.
