HASFIELD COURT

DESCRIPTION + /

House of 16th century origin, much altered in the 17th century. The house was further remodelled in 1863-6 and again between 1880 and 1886. The later 19th century work included the addition of a music room, conservatory and north eastern wing with billiard room. The north west service block, also added in the 19th century, was demolished circa 1940-50. The present house possibly stands on the site of a medieval house, documented from circa 1200. This house was probably moated and has been described as a 'stronghouse'. Part of a 16th century gatehouse survives, incorporated into the 19th century stables.
