Norman motte and bailey castle with scanty remains of later stone keep. (2)

Details of early history unknown, it has been badly damaged by rabbits, but "I have never heard of anyone who was warrening there, digging on to bricks or other remains". (3)

A small motte and bailey. The centre of the motte has been dug into and there is slight mutilation of the bailey ditch caused by soil dumping. Now under rough pasture. (4)

Castle Hill: a good example of a motte and bailey situated on the edge of a slight rise in a pasture field.

The motte, which as been considerably mutilated particularly on the N and S sides, measures overall 77.0m. to 85.0m in diameter by 2.3m in height above the ditch which is now for the most part dry.

The bailey which lies on the S side, is the best preserved aspect of the feature. It encloses an area 72.0m E to W by 32.0m. transversely within a substantial bank and dry ditch (see section).

There are also traces of stone buildings and a barbican. Said to have been built at the Conquest. (6)
