Hexham Priory gained Carraw in the 14th century, and they built a small tower to give the farm security. A stone house was built adjacent to it in 1406 which the Prior used as a summer retreat. Both tower and house were uninhabited and decayed in 1536. Nothing remains of the tower or house and their site is unknown.
