DESCRIPTION + /

Following a survey of the coastal defences of the Norfolk of 1539, a small battery was built at Old Hythe to oppose beach landings. Its location is today marked by `Old Hithe'. An elaborate plan to fortify Weybourne in 1577 probably only amounted to a strengthening of this battery.
