BARROW TOWER

The site of a medieval pele tower. The tower is mentioned in a document of 1522, but was subsequently raided and destroyed by the Scots. It was in ruins by 1541 and the stone later removed and used to build a farmhouse a short distance to the east. Several coins of Charles II's reign have been found in the ruins.
