MONUMENT NO. 1710

DESCRIPTION + /

A document of 1663 refers to a number of bastles at Bickerton. The site is currently occupied by a farmhouse and associated farm buildings. One of the internal walls of the farmhouse may represent part of an earlier structure. It is 0.9 metre thick and rises through two storeys, with later doorways inserted into it. No other evidence of a bastle is visible in or around the farmhouse.
