DUNDON BEACON

DESCRIPTION + /

A mound in the south-east side of Dundon Hill hillfort was excavated in the 19th century and found to contain a Bronze Age cist. This burial included finds of pottery and tin rings. Recent field investigation suggests that the original Bronze Age bowl barrow may have been added to and modified as a Norman motte. For information on the hillfort complex as a whole, please see ST 43 SE 15.
