[ST 7401 2564] Marsh Court (A.D. 1661) [TI]. (1)

Marsh Court, for long the residence of the Zouche family,
escaped attainder after Bosworth (1485), and was rebuilt in 1661
probably from the ruin of the former house. A part of the moat
still remains. (2)

There are no visible remains fo the original Marsh Court. The
O.S. siting, within an area bounded by a wet moat, is probably
correct.

The present house lies to the west of the moated area and it does
not appear to incorporate any material from the earlier building.
It is not architectually outstanding but is a very good example
of a 17th century farmhouse. (See GP AO/66/154/7)
Published 1:2,500 survey correct. (3)

The moat remains virtually complete and water-filled. No early
building material has been found within the site, which
continues to be occupied by farm-buildings. 'Marsh Court'
farmhouse is as described. (4)

The moat has been filled in and covered by two new haybarns.
There are now no visible earthworks. (5)
