MILECASTLE 13

DESCRIPTION + /

The earthwork remains of Roman milecastle 13, part of the defences on Hadrian's Wall. A platform survives, 0.2 to 0.4 metres high, with a further drop about 4 metres to the east. The platform measures approximately 20 metres east-west and 13 metres north-south overall. Twenty metres to the east is another slight mound measuring 12 metres east-west, and 7 metres north-south overall.
