HAMSTEAD MARSHALL MANOR HOUSE

DESCRIPTION + /

Manor house constructed in 1663 and destroyed by fire in 1718. The house is on the site of an earlier house constructed in circa 1590 and rebuilt in circa 1620. This in turn occupied the site of the manor house extant in 1345, which was granted as a dower house to Isabella, daughter of Edward II, in 1361. Many features associated with the gardens are visible as cropmarks and earthworks (see child record)
