COMPTON WYNYATES

Fortified manor house, built circa 1500 but incorporating parts of an earlier house. Extended in the 18th century, restored and remodelled circa 1867 and further repaired in the 20th century. The brick-built house is set around a courtyard and retains many original features. Part of the moat also survives, though the majority was drained during the Civil War.
