The earthwork remains of the medieval moated site known as Castle Dyke, located in Castledike Wood. Scheduled.

Castle Dyke, Aunby, visited 5.10.1930.
An inner rampart, some 2 ft 6 ins at its best, encloses a level space with perhaps traces of a wall in the north east corner. There is a slight outer bank and ditch, totally wanting on the west. Both ramparts have entrances. At the south-eastern extremity is a small enclosure not marked on the map. No relics were found. Probably a moated manor site.
Castle Dyke scheduled under `Other secular sites and buildings'. (2-3)

The remains of a manorial work now covered in dense undergrowth.
The outer ditch turns away on the south and becomes very shallow, and difficult to trace. It may be here that the AM enclosure is situated, but it could not be traced. Published survey (25") revised. (4)

The features described by the previous authorities are masked by
trees on available air photographs. (5)

The earthwork remains of the medieval moated site of Castle Dyke, located in Castledike Wood. The site comprises a moated island enclosed by an embanked ditch, creating an outer enclosure with a smaller enclosure extending from its south-western corner. The island would have been occupied by buildings, such as the manor house; the outer enclosure would have contained ancillary buildings or provided accommodation for stock; and the smaller enclosure may have been used as a paddock for stock. Scheduled. (6)
