Possibly built as a pele tower in the 16th century, but much altered in the 17th and 19th centuries. L-shaped in plan, built of stone rubble with slate roofs.

'Austwick Hall is one of the several dwellings in the North which have developed from pele towers'. (2)

Austwick Hall is said to incorporate the remains of a medieval house, but is much altered externally. (3)

Austwick Hall has a 19th c. appearance with no external evidence of antiquity.
