1961- 1963 Excavation THE TREASURY, WHITEHALL/10 DOWNING STREET

Grubenhausen were of a sill beam construction, one
possibly with a wooden floor. Site archive to go to the Museum
of London. Early Medieval garden represented a reclaimation
from river deposits.

This was a pilot excavation in advance of the main excavation. The Medieval Palace was Henry VIII's Palace of Whitehall. The Post Medieval garden was the Duke of Richmond's garden terrace.
